Unknown Organism

Where did you get your sample from and how was it collected? Also, Bergy's Manual is what you need access to, it is a huge book that has results charts and descriptions of various species types... You should have access to it at your school, check your laboratory or the library.

Curious - is this beginning micro lab? You can rule out some species but a specific ID is probably not readily obtained. I'd start with Bergey's Determinative ( http://www.uiweb.uidaho.edu/micro_biology/250/IDFlowcharts.pdf ). You'll see some of it's pretty subjective and for many species, you can o...
