The paravertebral ganglia situated in the cervical portion of the sympathetic trunk.

Supplement

The cervical ganglia are of three types based on their location on the sympathetic trunk:

• superior cervical ganglion located on the upper cervical region of the sympathetic trunk
• middle cervical ganglion on the middle cervical region of the sympathetic trunk
• inferior cervical ganglion on the lower cervical region. It may fuse with the first thoracic ganglion to form the stellate ganglion.
