CD4 T cell

Definition

noun, plural: CD4 T cells

A form of T lymphocyte with CD4 receptor on the cell surface that recognizes antigens of a virus-infected cell.

Supplement

This type of T lymphocyte releases lymphokines upon stimulation of its recognition of antigens of a virus-infected cell. Upon its antigen recognition it is activated, stimulating, in turn, B lymphocytes and killer T lymphocytes during the antibody formation.

It is the target cell of AIDS virus, infecting and eventually killing the lymphocyte by the virus.

Does B cell process the endocyted molecules in similar way as phagocytes do, so ... have to have the same antigen presented, and it binds to them via a CD4 molecule (remember a helper T cell has several CD4 molecules). Activation ...

I may as well make a list out of this! - Cell death can be due to phagocytosis or by the release of membrane perforating enzymes ... (similar role to plasma cells). Each has a single unique surface receptor. - CD4 and CD8 are surface glycoproteins, so not really similar to antibodies. They ...

Do B cells have receptors and antibodies

Mature naive B-cells have undergone VDJ recombination to give each of them a unique antigen presented ... plasma cells until they've encountered a foreign antibody that's presented by a CD4 T-cell or similar. Whether a B-cell becomes a plasma cell is basically a matter of ...
