(Science: pharmacology) refers to pills coated with a special substance that neutralises stomach acid. Drugs are buffered to reduce stomach upset or increase absorption by the intestines.

To be exact, PBS = phosphate buffered saline (not solution). And it all depends on what kind of experiment you are doing, wether or not you have to keep it cold. Generally speaking, if your cells are in an "unfavourable" environment, ...

... I’m not sure which amylase that was. If you start using things like citrate or citric acid, you will also have to make sure that your solution is buffered adequately (typically 100 mM at pH whatever--I would stay away from Tris buffer, but imidazole maybe? or HEPES?

... some help from tutorials that elucidated perl for me. I read the fasta seed from a fasta file and the genomic db is being read in line by line buffered. The code is not beautiful but does the job. The superfluous printing is because I have many seed sequences and many databases to scan and ...
