mystery plant in CT

... an evergreen....just spikey leaves growing. then it started to branch out and got rather dense within a month. Then pretty yellow flowers began to bloom with red inner parts. Can someone please help me identify a plant in my garden

I just Moved in to my new house and I found this plant its leaves are long like that of a tulip and the bloom is pink and then it has small little blooms under each peddle the smaller blooms a purple and look like a violets

Sounds like its a hydrangea to me. They grow about that size before they have their bloom, and they're in flowering season currently.
