(anatomy) The widest measure of the pelvis between the outer edges of the upper iliac bones using anthropometric calipers.

In humans, the average adult female biiliac width is about 28 cm or 11 in. The values are used in obstetrics to determine possible obstetrical complications, such as if a baby is too large for a normal delivery with a small pelvis then a caesarean section may be necessary.
