Basophilia

Definition

noun

(1) A compound with an affinity for basic dyes.

(2) A condition in which there is high concentration of basophils in the blood.


Supplement

In hematology, basophilia is a type of leukocytosis involving the basophils. In humans, basophil count of more than 10 10 /L of blood is considered basophilia. This condition is common in myeloproliferative disorders and prominent in chronic granulocytic leukemia.
