Barr test

A test done to determine the gender based on the presence of Barr body in non-dividing cell from the buccal smear.

The presence of Barr bodies on the cell from a smear sample indicates femaleness whereas their absence indicates maleness. This test was previously used in the International Olympic Committee Medical Commission in 1968. This test later was replaced by PCR test.
