Where is embryonic stem cell research at?... host, like any donor tissue (as stem cells, they don't show enough antigens to be "foreign'). Converting cells from an adult to stem cells avoids that, so it's likely that the future of medical applications is there. We wouldn't be there, of course, without the earlier embryonic work.
