(Science: cardiology, pathology) The progressive narrowing and hardening of the arteries over time.

this is known to occur to some degree with aging, but other risk factors that accelerate this process have been identified.

These factors include: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes and family history for atherosclerotic disease.

HDL & LDL

... the mechanism by which LDL (low density lipoproteins) can remove cholesterol from HDL. Also, if anyone knows a good place to research this or atherosclerosis in general, that would be helpful. Thanks

incomplete closing of the_____ valves will cause heart _____ respectively. a) atrioventricular, atherosclerosis b) semilunar, atherosclerosis c) atrioventricular, murmurs d) semilunar, murmurs e) atrioventricular, phlebitis i believe is c, any opinions??? thanx
