Another term for fibrous joint, a form of articulation connecting bones by tough fibrous tissue.
Examples are those found between the bones of skull such as the sutures, between radius and ulna in forearm, and between the tooth and the sockets in the maxilla or mandible.
Compare: synovial joint, cartilaginous joint.
