Argillaceous

Of the nature of clay; consisting of, or containing, argil or clay; clayey.

(Science: geology) argillaceous sandstone, a sandstone containing much clay. Argillaceous iron ore, the clay ironstone. Argillaceous schist or state. See argillite.

Origin: L. Argillaceus, fr. Argilla.
