Arboviruses

Arboviruses

(Science: virology) diverse group of single stranded rna viruses that have an envelope surrounding the capsid. Arthropod borne, hence the name and multiply in both invertebrate and vertebrate host, causing for example yellow fever and encephalitis.

The group is very heterogeneous and three major families are recognised: togaviridae, bunyaviridae and arenaviridae.
