a genus of flowering plants found in north temperate regions. The species a. Thaliana is used for experiments in classical plant genetics as well as molecular genetic studies in plant physiology, biochemistry, and development.

How is novel gene is named?

... proteins in rice genome and they were numbered as they were discovered. (or they could be number in accordance to paralogs in other plant, e.g. Arabidopsis)

APETALA is not only known in Arabidopsis.. it is a flowering gene..so it should be presented in angiosperm.. and i hv few sequence of apetala from other species..unfortunately its not enough to design a good primer

So? I'm sure you could find such examples also in animals. Probably. My point is APETALA is only known in Arabidopsis and thus it's probably totally different from Hibiscus.
