Results from our forumquestion about the solubility of ethnolin fact: when extracting lipids with choloroform, methanol is used to dissolve the apolar lipids in the chloroform to let it dssolve in a water phase. (same effect as ethanol, only a bit better)

Definition of a solution... (due to the interaction with numerous watermolecules) --> solutions are therefore clear --> the same occurs with non-polar compounds in an apolar solution.

The Fiber Disease... whereas the carboxy-terminal (C- terminal) segments line the cylindrical hole generated by the protein sheath in which the DNA is contained. An apolar domain in the interior of the pVIII molecule hydrophobically interacts with corresponding domains of other pVIII molecules, to hold the capsid ...

Passive Transport... bilayer or by canal proteins. Examples: Transport of lipidic molecules (as steroidic hormones), anaesthetics as ether, liposoluble chemicals, apolar substances (as atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen) and some polar molecules (as carbon dioxide, ethanol, glycerin, etc). Also water pass by simple ...
