Pertains to the condition wherein pepsin is lacking in gastric juice
Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme that predigests proteins in food into smaller chains of amino acids. Pepsin is released from the stomach as pepsinogen activated by hydrochloric acid or by another pepsin.
