A chemical agent or drug that prevents, reduces, or interferes with the formation of thrombi.


Preventing thrombosis or interfering with the formation of thrombi.


Examples of antithrombotics are antiplatelet drugs that limit the migration or aggregation of platelets, anticoagulants that limit the ability of the platelets to clot, and thrombolytic drugs that act by dissolving clots that have formed.
