protein domains that contain 33-amino acid long sequences that often occur in tandem arrays. This repeating sequence of 33-amino acids was discovered in ankyrin and is involved in interaction with the anion exchanger (band 3 protein) and may perform a role in molecular recognition in diverse proteins.
