Dictionary » A » Angiotensin AngiotensinAngiotensin (Science: hormone) a family of oligopeptides ranging in size from angiotensin precursors with 14 amino acids to the active vasoconstrictor angiotensin ii with 8 amino acids, or their analogs or derivatives. The amino acid content varies with the species and changes in that content produce antagonistic or inactive compounds. Angiotensinogen (renin substrate) is a 60 kd polypeptide released from the liver and cleaved in the circulation by renin to form the biologically inactive decapeptide angiotensin i. This is in turn cleaved to form active angiotensin ii by angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Angiotensin ii causes contraction of vascular smooth muscle and thus raises blood pressure and stimulates aldosterone release from the adrenal glands. Angiotensin is finally broken down by angiotensinases. ![]()

Results from our forumConnection between opioid receptors and fatty acid receptors... Some outtakes: Blood vessels were regulated by some of these receptors. Bradykinin widens blood vessels lowering blood pressure and angiotensin has opposite effects to bradykinin. Thrombin and platelet activating factor receptor cause blood coagulation. Possible that during some ...

Rennin and New born babies.... proteins. You sure you got the name right? Humans produce renin that is secreted (as the name suggests) by the kidneys and has a role in the renin-angiotensin system.

Re: Relationship between renal system and cardiovascular system? i wonder if I got th question right it's known that the kidney secrets (( Renin )) that converts Angiotensin 1 to Angiotensin 2 and it's known also that the final compound is a strong vasoconstrictor so it will affect the cardiovascular system >> goodluck himmel

KidneyKidney is behind the renin-angiotensin system, which impact on blood pressure in the long-run. Kidney release renin after drop in systemic blood pressure. Renin converts angiotensinogen to angiotension II which affect systemic arterioles ...

Thankshttp://www.ncf-net.org/forum/NCFDisclosureSpring04.htm Is there a test for this ABSTRACT thing he states he has found? The only ACE I know is Angiotensin-converting enzyme gene (ACE). Some think he is a quack although what he states sounds just like what we have..but how does one test for it? ...
