Dictionary » A » Amyloplast AmyloplastDefinition noun, plural: amyloplasts (botany) A type of leucoplast found in the cytoplasm of a plant cell, and serves as storage organelle of amylopectin.
Amyloplasts transform glucose into starch by polymerization and store the starch grains in the stroma. They are non-pigmented plastids, and most of them can be found in underground storage tissues of plants, such as potato.

Results from our forumamyloplast in leaves??Hello, I recently observed by electron microscopy Arabidopsis first leaves, on 3 week-old plantlets. I cut in the abaxial side of the 2nd leaf, and i what i observed is amyloplasts everywhere. What the hell they are doing here? Does anyone know something to explain this?
