Amaryllis

1. A pastoral sweetheart. To sport with amaryllis in the shade. (Milton)

2. (Science: botany) a family of plants much esteemed for their beauty, including the narcissus, jonquil, daffodil, agave, and others. A genus of the same family, including the belladonna lily.

Origin: L. Amaryllis, gr, the name of a country girl in Theocritus and Virgil.

Please help Identify Flower!

Did you mean " Amaryllis "? Accourding to some authors, they are included in the Liliaceae . But some considere them more advanced in evolution... :? :)
