... easily than larger molecules, but there's also lipid solubility to account for in this case. Also, why does water penetrate more quickly than the alcohols?

Denatured alcohol

... cleaning and disinfection, denatured EtOH is just as good, and can be treated like normal, pure ethanol what comes to calculations (those other alcohols are toxic to microbes as well). Sugarfree gum often uses sugar alcohols...depends on how stringent you want to get I mean, if you had paper or cotton inside your soda, I guess you could still call it sugar free.
