noun, plural: agranulocytes

Leukocyte lacking apparent cytoplasmic granules when viewed under light microscopy (in contrast to granulocytes)

Agranulocytes are one of the two types of leukocytes based on cytoplasmic granules; the other is granulocytes. Agranulocytes do not show visible granules in their cytoplasm through light microscopy methods. Nevertheless, agranulocytes do have granules in their cytoplasm but are not as obvious as those of granulocytes.

Examples of agranulocytes include lymphocytes and monocytes.
