Agranular endoplasmic reticulum



(cell biology) (A part of) endoplasmic reticulum that is lacking in ribosomal granules.


It is usually found inside the cells, which are involved in secreting steroid hormones.

Synonym: smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Compare: granular endoplasmic reticulum.
