Aerosol

Aerosol

(Science: pharmacology) a suspension or dispersion of fine particles of a solid or liquid in a gas which can be atomised into a fine mist for inhalation therapy.

Often colloids with a gaseous dispersing phase and either liquid (fog) or solid (smoke) dispersed phase; used in fumigation or in inhalation therapy; may contain propellent agents.

... sure you did not carry over contaminants when setting up the PCR (e.g. did you add your DNA to teh tubes last, always change tips, and did you use aerosol resistant tips? ). Presumably you still have the original DNA - this is important. Now it could be that when you went back to your founder DNA ...

Need URGENT help identifying unkown bacteria!

... wait for their inoculating loop to cool all the way and just going right in the tube so it would make a hiss sound. So that could have created an aerosol and their bacteria could have gotten into my testing tubes. I really need some help on this because I'm completely lost. Thanks for your time.
