3. (Science: botany) Congenitally united with an organ of another kind, as calyx with ovary, or stamens with petals.

... also cave animals are ubiquitous in nature, so this is not some freak happening. How can a theory so successfully contradict itself and the adherents not see it? I find this quite astonishing.
