Definition

noun

(1) A nucleotide composed of adenine, ribose and a phosphate group.

(2) An ester of phosphoric acid and the nucleoside adenosine, and with a molecular formula: C10H14N5O7P


Supplement

Adenosine monophosphate may be produced by combining two molecules of ADP during ATP synthesis. It may also be formed by the hydrolysis of one inorganic phosphate of ADP, or by the hydrolysis of ATP into AMP and pyrophosphate.
