Acrocentric chromosome

a chromosome with the centromere placed very close to one end so that the short arm is very small, often with a satellite. A chromosome with the centromere near one end so that one chromosomal arm is short and one is long.An adjective describing a chromosome where the centromere is situated some distance from the middle of it.
