... only, althoughit doesn't require oxygen per se. Thus it's 200 ATPs from glycolysis (2 per 1 Glc) and could be additional 200 from TCA (1 per 1 acetyl-CoA). The TCA or Krebs cycle only occurs if the ETC(electron transport chain) can occur and that is only with oxygen(and nothing keeping oxygen ...

Re: Number of water molecules produced by cellular respiration

... Later in the Kreb's cycle a single water molecule is consumed in converting fumarate into malate. This gives you one water molecule consumed per acetyl Co A or two consumed per glucose catabolized just within the Kreb's. These 2 Kreb cycle consumed waters balance against the 2 produced via enolase ...

Re: CHALLENGE: Why should there be an “origin of species”?

... funny, because you talk about change in time and then you mention shape! 4. Of course it has some purpose. Purpose of TCA cycle is to metabolise acetyl-CoA, provide intermediate metabolites for amino acids metabolism etc., Calvin cycle's purpose is to bind CO2 and convert it into sugar. I'm not ...
