Abrus

a genus of leguminous plants. The root of abrus precatorius, indian liquorice, is sometimes used as a substitute for liquorice; the seeds are toxic and may cause vomiting, diarrhoea, convulsions, and death if chewed.

Origin: more correctly Habrus, from g. Habros, graceful
