How does Head To Head Telomere Fusion express itself?

Maybe looking at the cell cycle during mitosis and seeing all the checkpoints might help you out. It could possibly end in cell death if the cell couldn't proceed thru its cell cycle. It is microtubules that connects the centromeres to the poles, and they begin to pull by way of letting tubulin go f...

Some problems about nomenclature.

Pro-, Meta- and Ana- all derive from Greek, I think. Pro- means before, Meta means between or with, and Ana- means away or from. I think that would refer to the most fully-condensed state of the chromosomes; prophase comes before, metaphase is with that state, and anaphase is going away from the sta...

Some problems about nomenclature.

You know the different phases of meiosis is Early prophase I, Late prophase I, Metaphase I, Anaphase I, Metaphase II, Anaphase II, Late telophase II. But what do these 'pro', 'meta' and 'ana' come from? Latin? And what do they mean? Another question: why is centromere called chiasmata when we come t...

homologous pair, bivalents, germ cell-definition?

Homologous pairs are paird of whole chromosomes which can become joined at regions called chiasmata during meiosis. When they do join, the whole structure containing the two homologous chromosomes is called a bivalent. A germ cell is simply a beginner cell from which all daughter cells are made

Diff. in chiasmata and synaptonemal complex

I am reading Alberts Mol. Biology book. While reading the book i came across a doubt. My doubt is what is the major difference in chiasmata and Synaptonemal complex. What is the role of bot of these. and in which stages they break. I hope i can get the answer
