The IUPAC name for para-aminobenzoic acid, a factor in the vitamin B complex.


Supplement

The compound is used as a UV filter in sunscreen formulations, as a drug against fibrotic skin disorders, in treating irritable bowel syndrome, and in the production of esters and folic acid.


Also called: para-aminobenzoic acid, Vitamin Bx, bacterial Vitamin H1.
