(Science: pathology) The essential elements of an organ, used in anatomical nomenclature as a general term to designate the functional elements of an organ, as distinguished from its framework or stroma.

Origin: gr. = anything poured in beside

(plant) The parenchyma exists in the vascular bundle. It has a thin cell wall when compare with sclerenchyma. It is a living cell in the plant.
