mineralocoid --> mineralocorticoid

1. (Science: biochemistry) Any of the group of C21 corticosteroids, principally aldosterone, predominantly involved in the regulation of electrolyte and water balance through their effect on ion transport in epithelial cells of the renal tubules, resulting in retention of sodium and loss of potassium, some also possess varying degrees of glucocorticoid activity.

Their secretion is regulated principally by plasma volume, serum potassium concentration and angiotensin II and to a lesser extent by anterior pituitary aCTH.

2. (Science: pharmacology) Of, pertaining to, having the properties of or resembling a mineralocorticoid.
