Lingual bone

The bone shaped like a horseshoe and located directly below the tongue. Its function is to provide support to the tongue and aid it in creating a range of vocalization or speech like in humans


It has three major components: the body of the hyoid, a pair of greater cornu, and a pair of lesser cornu.
