- The lateral ventricles are two (left and right) of the four ventricles of the brain. The two lateral ventricles are relatively large and C-shaped, roughly wrapping around the dorsal aspects of the basal ganglia. The left and right lateral ventricles communicate with the third ventricle via the foramen of Monro.
