Lacus lacrimalis

A small triangular space of the conjunctiva situated at the medial angle of the eye.


Literally, the lacus lacrimalis means the lake or pool of tears since it is where the tears accumulate after bathing the anterior surfaces of the conjunctiva and the eyeball.

Word origin: lacus (lake) + lacrima (tear).
