Jumping disease

One of the pathological startle syndromes found in isolated parts of the world, characterised by greatly exaggerated responses, such as jumping, flinging the arms and yelling, to minimal stimuli.

Synonym: jumping Frenchmen of Maine disease, jumper disease of maine.
