Housekeeping protein

(Science: molecular biology) Those sets of proteins involved in the basic functioning of a cell or the set of cells in an organism, for example enzymes involved in synthesis and processing of dna, rna, proteins or the major metabolic pathways. as opposed to luxury proteins.
