Cevitamic acid

Cevitamic acid --> ascorbic acid

(Science: biochemistry) a requisite in the diet of man and guinea pigs. May act as a reducing agent in enzymic reactions, particularly those catalysed by hydroxylases.

Synonym: vitamin c.
