Latin term for articular capsule, a sac-like fibrous tissue surrounding a synovial joint.


Supplement

It consists of two layers: the outer fibrous layer, called stratum fibfosum, and the inner secreting layer, called stratum synoviale.


Synonym: joint capsule.
