(anatomy) The upper arm; the part of the arm between the shoulder and the elbow.

(zoology) The part or segment of the forelimb of an animal corresponding to the arm.


The term brachium is used to distinguish it from the antebrachium.

Word origin: from Latin brācchium, arm, from Greek brakhīōn, upper arm.
