(Science: neurology, physiology) refers to neurons that use catecholamines as neurotransmitters at a synapse when a nerve impulse passes i.e. The sympathetic fibres.

also refers to neurones that are activated by, characteristic of or secreting adrenaline (adrenaline) or substances with similar activity.
