Abductor pollicis brevis

(Science: anatomy, muscle) origin, tubercle of trapezium and flexor retinaculum; insertion, lateral side of proximal phalanx of thumb; action, abducts thumb; nerve supply, median.

Synonym: musculus abductor pollicis brevis, short abductor muscle of thumb.
