If a recessive x-linked disease affects 0.1% of the male population, can we know the frequencie of the allele in the whole population? Since it's x-linked, and males only have 1 x, I'd say the 0.1% shows both the allele frequencie and the male disease frequency are both 0.1%, but the whole population isn't male. The whole pop's disease allele frequencie could be the 0.1% (males affected) + half the female heterozygous and female recessive homozygous. But I do not understand how we can combine both male and female allele frequencies for the whole populations. Please clarify my error thank you.
