methylation of bacterial dna

Post by biologygeek83 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 1:16 am

i read that restriction enyzmes are always paired with methylases in a restriction-modification system so that bacteria do not digest their own dna... in this case, would the dna need to be demethylated before it is transcribed? how is this done?
