ok, here are descriptions for other karyotyping programs that are out now, but how they fare in terms of affordability...

Yes, but my school has a small budget (they don't like bunches of research) so we usually resort to the old fashioned methods.

We are running slightly behind schedule with the beginnings of our karyotyping endeavor. My research leader is purchasing a digital camera lens for the microscope soon so it will be easier to get the project rolling in the laboratory stuff. Thanks for all the links guys.
