Can someone tell me where I can get DH5alpha stock from to make my own competent cells?

Your best choice is to ask microbiology and biotechnology professors. Making competent cells should be a part of biotech lab curriculum.
Good Luck.

Almost any company that supplies cloning kits will probably sell you some DH5a cells. New England Biolabs I know sells them, so probably do Novagen, Invitrogen, and Stratagene, and possibly Qiagen. You can do better than DH5a. And you can also buy competent cells rather than make them yourself. The Giga format (NovaBlue Giga, for example) from Novagen works well for me.
