Let's hear it; what's your favorite microbe and why?

I personally love Phages; mainly their structure is so alien and intriguing.
As far as living organisms...
Yeast, for its industrial uses (beer).

I never heard of having microbes to be one of the favourites. I just remember that a bacillus for me has a very nice shape.

E coli K12, yes I am very selective ;-)

Simple to grow, easy to work with and harmless unlike most of my other playmates coming from the environment. Go K12!

Pseudomonas aeruginosa, naturally! It smells like meadows in the spring wind (how poetic!). In addition, it has interesting antibiotic resistance properties.

Another ones I like are Mycobacterioum tuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus, interesting pathogens both.

Finally, Pichia pastoris is nice as well, since I can even produce pieces of dog in it :D (well okay, dog proteins, but they ARE pieces of dog in a way, aren't they :P)

Borrelia burgdorferi because it sounds dirty.

Not really my favourite but it was off the top of my head.

Names in italics folks else I will be deducting points lol.
