problem with mendel using horses instead of peas??????what problems would medel experience if he used horses instead of peas????
University student!!! pleeeeeeeeaaaaasssseeeeee HELP
Well if you have read about mendel's experiment, that should suggest a few line of investigations. Think about the time involved, space, cost, interpreting data, characteristics of the line he was using, experimental protocol. I can see a lot of problems without any difficulties. Come on, use your brain, and read the description, it will help.

Re: problem with mendel using horses instead of peas??????Peas are a lot easier to yield results because they have a higer biotic potential - they reproduce and mature at much higher rate than horses would, thus making it easier for Mendal to see variations and similiarities in generations in a much smaller time frame. As some other guys said, costs could be part of the reason why he didn't, and also finding areas big enough for numerous generations of horses to stay in. Mendel was researching hereditary characteristics and how they varied and were similiar through numerous generations, thus giving us insight to the more recently discovery of genetics - if he used horses it simply would be too much agro.
